I have been asked this question many times in the past – Why choose project management as a career option?

Here’s why –

There are several reasons why someone might choose project management as a career. First and foremost, project management can be a highly rewarding career. As a project manager, you get to see the results of your efforts as you guide a project from conception to completion. Additionally, project management can offer opportunities for growth and advancement, as well as the chance to work on a wide variety of projects across different industries.

Project management can also be a lucrative career, with many companies willing to pay competitive salaries for experienced project managers. Moreover, project management skills are in high demand (esp. post pandemic), and having a background in project management can open up many job opportunities in a range of industries.

About salaries (one of the most important questions we have when we think of career options, isn’t it?) – According to the Project Management Institute’s (PMI) Earning Power: Project Management Salary Survey, the median annual salary for project management professionals in the United States is $120,000. This is significantly higher than the median annual salary for all occupations in the United States, which is around $40,000. Additionally, the PMI survey found that project management professionals with the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification earn 25% more on average than those without the certification. However, it’s important to keep in mind that salaries can vary widely depending on factors such as industry, location, experience, and education.

Finally, project management can be a great fit for people who enjoy problem-solving, working with teams, and managing complex projects. If you are someone who enjoys these things and is looking for a challenging and fulfilling career, project management may be the right choice for you.
